Kyle Turner close to signing - September 18, 2006

We are happy to announce that our long time friend and associate Kyle Turner will be joining NE as an artist and client. We will be handling his musical career and producing several future projects with him. Kyle has recently toured with Soul legend Regina Belle and many others. More to follow.

We are proud to announce that customers are now able to purchase the fine art of Dick Hendricks online. Dallas based Skylightartists has a great website that shows previews of many fine artists and photographers. We hope you will browse the site and learn more about some of these unique works.

Hiro wins 3rd Place - July 25, 2006

Hiro Morozumi (Japan) gets the 3rd price. Native of Japan, Hiro Morozumi studied on scholarship for eight years at the prestigious University of North Texas, and got a Master's degree in jazz studies. He studied extensively with the jazz education pioneer Dan Haerle. Hiro is a rising composer who has won the Henry Mancini Institute Scholarship in 2002. He is also a highly demanded performer in both jazz and popular music scenes. Hiro plans to spend the upcoming year in Paris, where he will be concentrating on classical studies. The artist receives CHF 2000 and will get the opportunity to attend a Master class presented by a famous pianist and will take part in the 34th IAJE conference in January 2007.

Thanks Bradley Fair - July 2, 2006

What a night! Fingerprints just left a great time in Wichita, KS. It was our first time to perform at the Summer Music series and it was a lot of fun. We especially want to thank B98 FM and the Wichita Eagle for all the support. Also, to our new best friend in KS, Karen James, You are the real deal professional. All was top shelf. Thanks and bring us back next year.

Small band sessions completed - May 19, 2006

We are happy to announce that the Ellington Small band CD is complete and nw just has to be mastered and replicated. NE currently has distribution secured thru CDbaby.com and The Orchard. We look forward to getting the product out to the public. Thanks to Paul Ellington and Ace at Ideal for all the support. Look for a late July release date.

Ellington sessions - February 28, 2006

Well, we got most of the Ellington sessions done less a few solos and parts. This Small Band project was a recorded at Reeltime Audio in Denton, Texas. Barrie Lee Hall worked tirelessly to make the arrangements fit this impressive octet. The CD will be in stores by early summer. Also, thanks to all who supported the big band and chorus on saturday at the Eismann Center for the Sacred Concert performance. It was really a night to remember.

Ellington Small Band project - February 4, 2006

NE along with Singleton Enterprises has just agreed to executive produce a new CD from Barrie Lee Hall and members of the current Duke Ellington Orchestra. Barry is one of the few remaining musicians who played in the orchestra with Duke. He has spent over 40 years in jazz and sacred music and now steps out to lead on this pioneering project. Our own Shelly Carrol played a decisive role in getting the ball rollling and will co-produce the record in late February. Look for an early summer release from NE.

African American Lives on PBS - February 2, 2006

Hey,
Just wanted to mention a well done documentary by Henry Louis Gates, Jr. called African American Lives. It's new and features stories on some popular folks. Gates has produced several informative works and this one is fantastic. I think it is a must see for ALL people. You can even order it online at PBS.org. Studio News - February 2, 2006

Shelley Carrol just recorded a live date led by drummer, Sebastian Whittaker. The CD was done at Houston C.C. last week. It features Carrol, Whittaker, along with bassist Lynn Seaton, and pianist Stefan Carlson. Look for a mid 2006 release. NE will be releasing a new CD from Denton based Inner City All stars Brass band in mid 2006.

South Soul invited to Italy - January 24, 2006

Talk about big time, Memphis own South Soul Rhythm has been invited to perform at the 2006 Porretta Soul Festival in Italy. This is one of Europe's most prestigious music events and has featured artists such as the Bar-kays, Isaac Hayes, The Reddings, Neville Brothers and many others. Kennan on cover of SBO magazine - December 10, 2005

Hey,

Drummer, Kennan Wylie is featured on the cover of School Band and Orchestra magazine November issue. It has a great article focusing on his program at Flower Mound Marcus HS. If you did not know, Kennan's percussion groups have been top notch since the early 90s and continue to rack up awards and regonition both locally and nationally. His class method book is one of the fastest growing in the nation. Thanks for a job well done in education.

The Oakridge School - November 13, 2005

Memphis Soul Live had a great time performing at the annual Super Supper and Auction. This school was decorated like none I've seen and the people really came to donate and party. Special thanks to Pro Audio Sound Systems for making our job easier.

Hiro Morozumi CD is ready - November 8, 2005

Hiro's CD is back from manufacturing and really looks and sounds great. These guys did a fine job and we hope to have it available on line by Thanksgiving. It will be going to jazz and college radio very soon.

Friends of Dallas Police Awards - November 8, 2005

Thanks again to all the sponsors and volunteers who put on the Awards show at Gilley's Dallas. This was our third year providing entertainment and we hope the people enjoyed it as much as we did. Food was excellent and although Gilleys is still under some cunstruction, the rooms used were fantastic. This venue should certainly be everyones must see list for Downtown Dallas. Hope to be back again.

Kyle Turner Best of Collection - November 2, 2005

NE has just agreed to executive produce a new CD from saxophonist Kyle Turner. This Houston based sax man has performed and recorded with the likes of Joe Sample, Bobby Lyle, Johnnie Taylor, and Luther Vandross. Kyle is currently in the touring band for Peak Records artist Regina Belle. The new CD will be a hand picked selection of tunes from Turner's 3 releases along with some brand new recordings. New Amsterdam Bar - September 29, 2005

The former New Amsterdam Coffee Haus has a new name and a new title. It is now known as New Amsterdam Bar and has recently been voted Best Jazz Club by the Dallas Observer readers poll. This is no doubt the result of the Monday Nite Jam Session led by Shelley Carrol. This is Dallas' only weekly straight ahead spot and has featured players such as Mark Gulley, Gary Grainger, Hiro Morozumi, and many others. Special thanks to all the players who support this essential movement in the Jazz scene. We hope this is only the beginning of a real revival for jazz music in Dallas.

New Hiro Morozumi CD - September 15, 2005

We are proud to announce that NE will be the sole US distributor for a Hiro Morozumi's "Back with the Cats" CD. Pianist/composer, Hiro is a 2004 graduate of UNT and will launch the CD on a January 2006 tour of his native Japan. This acoustic jazz set also features Shelley Carrol, Lumark Gulley, and LA bassist, Ryan McGilicutty. Look for this release in stores and online in early November.

Movie news - September 13, 2005

South Memphis Music will have a song in the upcoming movie Black Snake Moan starring Samuel l. Jackson and Justin Timberlake. The movie has a blues setting and will feature the Little Milton version of Walking the Back Streets that was written by Sandy Jones. Look for a 2006 release.
